Our Pre-Professional Ballet Program is for ages 8 - adult.  This program is for the serious dancer.  We offer five Pre-Professional Ballet Levels - details about each level are listed below.  Each of these levels prepares dancers for a professional ballet career.  Students are required to take two ballet classes per week.  Other classes can be added on to any level.  While the youngest age is 8 years old, adults pursuing professional dance careers are welcome and encouraged to enter this program at any age.  All interested students must audition for us to determine your placement level.  All students, no matter your age, race, size or gender, are accepted and welcome into our ballet program.

Royal Expressions School of Dance is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level 5 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Princess Johnson, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

Ballet Level I
Ballet Level II
Ballet Level III

Students ages 8 to adult will begin their pre-professional ballet journey in Track I. You/your child will have a 45 minute ballet class twice a week focused on establishing proper turnout, spine and hips alignment at the ballet barre, dancing gracefully and rhythmically, and preparation for Pointe work.  Boys/Men will have a special time in class to develop their craft and role as dancers. You/your child will typically remain at this level for 1-2 years before continuing on to Ballet Track II training.

Students ages 9 to adult will continue on to Ballet Track II at the recommendation of the teacher only.  You/Your child will have a 1 hour class twice a week.  The classes will continue building on the foundation of Ballet Track I as well as increasing core strength, flexibility, and movement dynamics.  Students will typically remain at this level for 1-2 years before continuing on to Ballet Track III training.

Students ages 10 to adult will continue on to Ballet Track III at the recommendation of the teacher only. Teachers are very careful when making this recommendation because at this level students will begin their Pointe journey!  This is a very exciting time, but it is critical that we ensure the safety of you/your child.  You/your child will have class twice a week for 90 minutes.  The first hour class will be devoted to demi-pointe work and the last 30 minutes will be devoted to Pointe work.  Boys/men will continue to work on their special designated moves as well. Students will typically remain at this level for 1-2 years before continuing on to Ballet Track IV training.

Ballet Level IV
Ballet Level V

Students ages 11 to adult will continue on to Ballet Track IV at the recommendation of the teacher only. Teachers are very careful when making this recommendation because at this level students will begin to do more Pointe work away from the barre!  This is a very exciting time, but it is critical that we ensure the safety of you/your child.  You/your child will have class twice a week for 105 minutes per class.  The first 75 minutes of class will be devoted to demi-pointe work and the last 30 minutes will be devoted to Pointe work. Boys/men will continue to work on their special designated moves as well. Students will typically remain at this level for 1-2 years before continuing on to Ballet Track V training.

Students ages 12 to adult will continue on to Ballet Track V at the recommendation of the teacher only. Teachers are very careful when making this recommendation because at this level students will begin to do more complicated Pointe work away from the barre!  This is a very exciting time, but it is critical that we ensure the safety of you/your child.  You/your child will have class twice a week for 120 minutes per class.  The first 75 minutes of class will be devoted to demi-pointe work and the last 45 minutes will be devoted to Pointe work. Boys/men will continue to work on their special designated moves as well.
